A journey from print to personal messaging...
What is Information Design? (15Mb PDF)
You may have missed the Information Design exhibition at St Bride's Library earlier this year, but the explanatory panels are now available to dowload. Here they are as a (whopping great 15meg) PDF document.
The panels offer overviews of:
Gutenberg - print comes of age
Robert Estienne - typography comes of age
Andreas Vesalius - modern anatomy
William Playfair - national statistics
Isotype - pictorial statistics
Henry Beck - non-geographical map
Jock Kinnear and Margaret Calvert - systematic road signing
Spencer, Reynolds and Coe - legibility research
Forms design research - helpful forms
Apple - birth of an interface
Text and instant messaging - making it personal
